I have an extensive background working with diverse technologies and teaching individuals in a variety of contexts. In college I earned a minor in Computer Science. I worked full time as a computer programmer and project manager at the University of Georgia for 10 years. Although I enjoyed my work at UGA I found my true passion involved working with people rather than programming. In addition, I realized I was very interested in finding work in which I could continue to explore what was new in the technology arena.

About 12 years ago, I began working with various individuals who needed technology support and consulting services. Since then, I have helped people with iPhones, iPads, iCloud, email, web browsing, purchasing things safely on the web, online banking, personal websites, digital cameras, iPods, scanners, etc. I have also assisted several clients in making the switch from Windows to Apple. In this work, I've found that I love listening to my clients' needs, identifying appropriate solutions, and finding ways to support their learning. In addition, I enjoy the excitement my clients feel as their confidence and knowledge of technology increases. I have also come to realize that my ability to organize information, focus on the most efficient way to accomplish technological tasks (using various software and hardware), keen troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in diverse circumstances, and willingness to work patiently as my clients learn are unique characteristics that distinguish me from many of the current tech support businesses. I have immensely enjoyed teaching others about a diverse range of technological innovations and have decided to turn my side job into a business here in Bellingham.

In 2007 I moved to the area from Athens, GA. I love the community here and I envision Tech Guide as a response to all those who use or want to use technology but need more personalized support in order to feel comfortable working with technology and to make informed purchases and decisions. Currently, I am working to establish connections with small businesses and individuals in the community who could benefit from my services.
